Partners arrested for duping Ahmedabad channel

Press Release Summary = Three partners, who tricked Ahmedabad channel few weeks back
were arrested by the police on Sept 14, 2006. Three of them Raju Purohit, Kalpesh
Purohit and Vikas working under the company name called 'Apple Infosys' had
absconded from Ahmedabad, after committing a fraud of Rs. 25 lakhs and duping around
20 channel partners in the area, which included dealers, sub distributors and
resellers.

Purohit and Vikas working under the company name called 'Apple Infosys' had
absconded from Ahmedabad, after committing a fraud of Rs. 25 lakhs and duping around
20 channel partners in the area, which included dealers, sub distributors and
resellers.

Speaking to itVARnews, President, Ahmedabad Computer Dealers Association, Rushikesh
Patani said, "The culprits were hiding near Jaipur city and after an effort three of
them were located and arrested by the police. The police brought them back to
Ahmedabad and had presented them to the court. After the three days remand accused
partners were handed over to Mumbai police."

Further investigation in the matter revealed that the three had duped Mumbai channel
as well by attempting a fraud of Rs. 55 Lakhs around six months back. Mumbai police
was searching for them after TAIT and affected members had registered an FIR against
them. Mumbai police has taken the custody for accused partners and two cases have
been filed against them, one in Mumbai and other in the Ahmedabad. The three accused
partners have confessed their crime.

The material worth Rs. 25 lakhs was already held by the Octroi authority, when the
three partners were trying sneak out of the city. The recovered material will be
distributed among the affected channel partners as soon as it comes to police
custody from Octroi department.

Talking about the steps association is taking to stop such kind of incidences in the
future, Patani added, "We are trying to improve relations among the channel partners
and are encouraging them to join ACMA for safer business and transactions. Also, we
are asking sub distributors to deal only with ACMA members to avoid such malicious
practices. We are ready to play any kind of intermediate positions among the
Ahmedabad channel partners for this purpose."
